Comparison of maternal adjustment during pregnancy, personality types, psychological hardiness, and executive functions in women seeking cesarean and vaginal delivery.

The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the measurement of maternal adaptation, personality types, psychological hardiness, and executive functions in women applying for cesarean and natural birth. The research method was descriptive with a causal comparative type in terms of data collection method. The statistical population was all women applying for natural and cesarean deliveries in Saveh city who referred to Saveh city health centers in 1403-1404. G-POWER software was used to determine the sample size and perform the analysis, and 80 people (40 in the cesarean delivery group and 40 in the natural delivery group) were selected using the convenience sampling method. Nejati Executive Functions Questionnaire (2013), Kobasa et al.'s Psychological Hardiness Questionnaire (1982), Ratos Personality Type Questionnaire (2001), and Zamani et al.'s Prenatal Self-Assessment Questionnaire (1401) were used to collect data. The results showed that there was no significant difference in personality types, psychological toughness, and executive functions in women seeking cesarean section and natural birth. However, there was a significant difference in maternal adjustment in the component of relationship with mother among women seeking cesarean section and natural birth. According to the results of the study, it is suggested that special support and educational programs be designed and implemented to strengthen intergenerational relationships and improve maternal adjustment in pregnant women, especially in the field of relationship with mother.
