The present study aimed to determine the fit of the model of the relationship between control and differentiation with spousal violence mediated by psychological stress and spiritual well-being in couples referring to counseling centers in Tabriz. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of this study included all spouses referring to the social emergency in Tabriz in the first half of 1402 (305 people). Using simple and purposive random sampling method and based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 240 people were selected (n = 240). The data collection tools were the Haj Yahya Violence Against Women Questionnaire (1999), the Revised Graham-Cowan and Archer Controlling Behavior Scale (2005), the Skorn and Friedlander Self-Differentiation Inventory (1998), the Seyyed Khorasani Psychological Stress Questionnaire (1377), and the Gomez and Fisher Spiritual Well-Being Questionnaire (2003). Data analysis was performed using SPSS and LISREL statistical software. Data analysis using Pearson correlation coefficient showed that controlling has a direct effect on spousal violence and the calculated relationship is statistically positive and significant (p<0.05, β = 0.374); differentiation has a direct effect on spousal violence and the calculated relationship is statistically negative and significant (p<0.05, β = -0.421). Structural equation modeling findings showed that controlling has an indirect and positive effect on spousal violence through the mediation of psychological stress (p<0.05, β = 0.496); controlling has an indirect and negative effect on spousal violence through the mediation of spiritual well-being (p<0.05, β = -0.508); Differentiation has an indirect and negative effect on spousal violence through the mediation of psychological stress (p<0.05, β = -0.611) and differentiation has an indirect and negative effect on spousal violence through the mediation of spiritual well-being (p<0.05, β = -0.578). Therefore, the model of the relationship between control and differentiation with spousal violence through the mediation of psychological stress and spiritual well-being in couples referred to Tabriz counseling centers is consistent with empirical data. The results can be helpful for clinicians in increasing compassion and empathetic understanding and reducing spousal violence and, by considering the role of predictive factors in these patients, planning effective treatments.
